Great piece on what Americans think of Africa...

I needed some extra credits and I found an Anthropology class on Sub-Saharan Africa that looked really interesting plus I thought it would give me a better insight into other countries in Africa, so I decided to give it a go. It seems my professor shares the same views as us since she spent much of the first class examining Americans' misconceptions about Africa. Attached is our first reading, which basically explains the purpose of Cycle for Understanding but goes into more detail on the issue and bicycling across the continent is sadly not discussed.
