I found out about your project from Student Life staff (Wash U newspaper), and I've been following your blog closely since then! I'm really impressed, learning a lot, and making a donation. I'd love to see more pictures of your surroundings and the communities you pass through if you get a chance on water breaks.

Best of luck enjoying the challenge without worsening your stress injuries or having any more unfortunate accidents with your bicycles.

Left in the morning without saying goodbye to your tent neighbors?

Sorry about that guys -- I briefly looked for you, but was already running very late. I will see what I can to connect you in Malawi.

Safe travels, Sugar & Milk.

Hi Guys,
Following your blog. Sounds incredibly interesting and challenging. Didn't like the sound of the large rodents and other roadkill. You probably know this already, but check your seat height (knees should only be very slightly bent); keep your knees close to your bicycle's inner tube (don't let them flay outwards when cycling); and keep your cadence at 90 rpms or higher - if necessary go to an easier gear. If your hands are hurting, consider moving around your bike seat and adjusting your hand position more frequently. Keep your hands loose and relaxed; almost the power should be coming from your legs. Eric - your achilles heal might be due to a poorly fitting shoe or insole?

Hope you are healing and having fun,
Robert
